Today, I arrived in Munich, Germany. I like it here. The one thing I hate about traveling, though, is orienting myself to a new city...I seem to always be in a perpetually lost state. Oh, well. I manage. :) I really like Munich thus far.
I got into the city, however, to find out much to my lack of knowledge about sports that today was a big game against Germany. Note: traveling during the World Cup = certain madness! (I honestly didn't even know that was still going on...guess I should get up on my current events...) I hate vuvuzelas and think I might be deaf now! haha!
My hostel is quite nice, however, I already miss the privacy I was privileged with in my last port-of-call. Also, much to my mother's chagrin, I have to admit it...I miss my shower at my apartment. Yes, I am spoiled. It's been awhile since I've done this whole sharing bathrooms business...once you turn away from it, it becomes far more difficult to return to it. Just saying.
When I got into Munich, I took a bit of a rest, checked my messages, tried calling my roommate's mom again because she wanted to talk to me...(Joy if you are reading this, I think I am annoying Tom because you haven't been home every time I've tried!), and then headed out for some adventuring.
Wandered my way to Old Town, Marianplatz, the Glockenspiel, Hofbrauhaus, found my little sister the most awesome gift, sat in on a German mass at St. Peter's, AND...somehow snatched a ticket to Diana Damrau's song recital tomorrow night!!!! EEEK!! I was just going to see about gettinga ticket to see Edita Gruberova in a Donizetti opera but something tells me this is WAY better!! :) There were only like five seats left, so I paid a little more than I normally would for those types of things, but I'm okay with that if I get to see this event!! :)
Dinner at the Hofbrauhaus...it was a must...it's like a German institution! haha! Weissbier and bratwurst with sauerkraut. Yes, it's true. It wasn't bad.
I ordered only a half liter of beer and even that seemed huge...the waiter tried to get me to order the liter, too! That wasn't happening! I still had to figure out how to get back to my room, so I needed to be in my right mind! haha!
I think a bit of museums tomorrow and wandering...and then of course the recital! Hoping to go to Schloss Neuschwanstein on Monday and see Don Giovanni on Tuesday night. Leaving Wednesday morning for an evening with Katrin and Martin in Vienna! :)

Water. I spent like a gazillion dollars on a couple little bottles of water today because I was unbelievably parched. I didn't care how much it was at that point! haha! (Honestly, I'd like to know where all the supermarkets went around here? Did they just vanish? My other times in Europe, I could find a convenience store or a grocery store just about anywhere. Now, I can't seem to find one anywhere...where do people buy their food?!)
