Yesterday, a few colleagues and I road-tripped to the Berkshires for a day at Tanglewood Music Center. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect! :) Love it! It is definitely on my list of happiest places on earth. So magnificently idyllic and picturesque. And so calming! There's a different sense of time there, too. As my teacher put it, there is something about being away from "worldly distractions" that makes time slow down just a bit.
The music is stunning and creates an atmosphere of sound... All around you will hear notes and voices and tunes drifting through the hills. Such attention and care to the art form. I tried -- but was only in vain -- to convince the colleagues that were with me to ditch the rest of the week and just stay there. But alas, that was merely a pipe dream, as responsibility was calling us back to life in the city.
It was a totally random, spur-of-the-moment trip because another colleague of ours who is studying there this summer scored us some free passes! Three concerts, lots of lazing around on the lawns, trekking through the woods to a private lake, a gorgeous sunset over the Berkshires, and a lot of joy. I certainly didn't want to leave! However, I will be back many, many times in the future (one being this Saturday for another day trip, since our passes last all week! YAY!)...and hope to someday be a fellow there. What a wonderful thing that'd be! :)
